Project scope:
How do you replace an entire building without interrupting the day–to–day operations inside? With a 24,000–square–foot roof in dire need of replacement and a building in poor condition, Stepan Company brought Graycor Industrial on as general contractor to help answer that question. The first step was to erect a new, pre–engineered building around the existing one. Stepan Company is a global manufacturer of specialty and intermediate chemicals used in consumer products and industrial applications. With tanks, heat exchangers and pumps to process and blend chemicals, a tremendous amount of infrastructure ran through the very roof that needed to be removed. Our team relocated these vital production systems without shutting down production. Once the new building was in place, the old roof and truss systems were demolished and removed. This presented a particular challenge due to the complex systems existing in the building. That′s where Graycor Industrial′s process expertise became crucial. From roof study to project development and execution, the project was a three– year endeavor. But relentless resourcefulness and unique solutions ultimately lead to completion within 11 months. Three months ahead of schedule.
