No. 6 coal dump

When a coal dumper derailed at Midwest Generation′s power facility in Joliet, IL, Graycor Industrial responded. We provided emergency response services to the critical derailment at Joliet Station No. 6, returning the railcar dumper to its center position and setting the car back on its rails until temporary rails could be installed. Graycor righted the dumper and completed significant structural repairs, including replacement of cables and alignment.

Graycor mobilized in less than 24 hours after receiving authorization from Midwest Generation to proceed. The dumper was operational 15 days after the incident, with some aspects of it operating better than before. The work was especially challenging because the dumper contained a railcar at the time, which created a dangerous situation in the way the equipment was positioned while the team raised and set it. The project was completed without any safety incidents.
