Peaker plant

This joint venture, managed by Graycor Industrial, completed construction of a simple–cycle peaker plant in University Park, IL. The facility generates 530– megawatts of supplemental electrical power during Chicago′s peak power periods.

The project included installation of 12 natural gas–fired combustion turbine generators, as well as civil construction. Houston–based Parsons Energy & Chemicals Group, Inc. served as engineer for the new facility. The project was a joint venture between Graycor, McCarl′s Inc. of Beaver Falls, PA, and Sargent Electric Co. of Pittsburgh.
