Project scope:
As part of the construction of new Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World retail superstores in Bolingbrook, IL, and Portage, IN, Graycor Construction completed two 8,500–square–foot Islamorada Fish Company restaurants located within the 140,000–square–foot outdoor stores. A company known for combining retail with entertainment, conservation and outdoor education, Springfield, MO–based Bass Pro Shops chose Graycor Construction to build their new destination retail center featuring Islamorada Fish Company, as well as the retailer′s line of outdoor sports leisure equipment in a setting highlighted by unique aquatic and wildlife displays designed to attract visitors from far and wide. Plans included installing a 12,000–gallon saltwater aquarium as a transparent divider between the store′s fishing department and the bar area of the Islamorada restaurants. Islamorada Fish Company, a family–owned company in business since the late 1940s, became affiliated with Bass Pro in the late 1990s.
