Project Scope

Kerasotes' ShowPlace ICON Theatre at the Village at San Antonio is part of a six-theatre expansion program that Graycor Construction is completing for Kerasotes, coast-to-coast. Graycor provided construction services for the interior build-out of the glass-encased, 50,000-square-foot and 1,142-seat theatre.

The theatre complex has 10 screens with some equipped with Dolby ATMOS and Digital Surround 7.1 technology. Theatre One, the largest of the auditoriums, offers 322 heated recliner seats stretched over two levels and a 74-foot mega screen. Additionally, the lobby lounge features an upscale restaurant with a full bar serving up artisan dishes, craft beer and specialty cocktails.

Other chic elements of this two-level theatre include chevron-patterned chairs, marble and gold coffee tables, Kriskadecor "art with chain" curtains, a marble tile bar front and modern light fixtures.

Success on the project was a result of extensive preplanning, detailed and well-prepared site logistics and completion of work concurrently in the auditoriums. Graycor also provided value engineering options that were more efficient and cost effective while still meeting design intent, e.g., walls, MEP systems, finishes.
