Optimizing project outcomes through innovation and technology

We continuously explore innovative technologies that will help us build better, faster and safer. As your contractor, we prioritize understanding the specific requirements of your project by actively listening to your needs. With a clear understanding of your goals, we’ll work with you to create a technology strategy that leverages the best technology and our practical building expertise to achieve success.

BIM decreases the likelihood of late changes during construction and the need for rework that can lead to additional costs or project delays.

Building it Twice with BIM

Graycor’s continued investment in its Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) and Building Information Modeling (BIM) capabilities as an instrumental component to ensure quality building system installations by visualizing projects, detecting clashes with building systems, and helping our trade partners prefabricate and install their scopes of work.

At Graycor, we use VDC and BIM to ‘BUILD IT TWICE’. Through creating fully integrated models from construction documents to eliminating problems typically discovered in the field, both time and costs savings are realized on Graycor projects while increasing quality. Once onsite, our coordinated VDC models allow our subcontractors to tie into project survey control through robotic total stations to assist with automatic and accurate layout ensuring we do it right the first time.

Using Laser Scanning for Informed Decisions

Laser scanning is used to capture accurate and detailed information that can inform design decisions, reduce risks and improve project outcomes. High-resolution 3D models of existing buildings are produced through laser scanning and used to visualize the structure and identify potential issues or opportunities for improvement before construction begins. We utilize LIDAR laser scanners to compare as-built conditions to as-designed conditions ensuring tolerances are met where they are most important to our clients.

Visual Records with Drones

Graycor utilizes drones, also known as Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), to gather aerial data and conduct visual inspections of construction sites, including hard-to-access or risky areas. By capturing regular aerial images or videos of the site, our project teams can maintain an up-to-date visual record of the progress and milestones achieved, allowing us to monitor productivity and compare it with the planned schedule. With high-resolution cameras on our drones, we can capture detailed images of constructed elements such as buildings or infrastructure, which can be compared against design models to ensure quality control and precise asset management.

Visual and Virtual with 360-Degree Cameras

360-degree cameras provide us with a valuable tool for construction site management, enabling project teams to capture and analyze site data in a more comprehensive and immersive way. The images or videos can be used to create virtual site tours, interactive maps, or 3D models of the site. Our solution for online hosting of 360-degree photos documents and captures current state of construction progress.

As a company with a national presence and diverse portfolio of projects scattered all across the country, communication of current site conditions to remote teams and personnel can be done seamlessly and efficiently through this open sharing of information. By creating what is essentially a custom interior “Google Street View” for the project, remote project managers are no longer working in the dark when it comes to checking the current state of construction progress when making critical decisions – a complete photo archive is now just a few clicks away.
