Congratulations to Joe Whitmore who recently won Northern Indiana Public Service Co.’s (NIPSCO) Outstanding Leadership Award! Joe, a supervisor with Graycor Industrial Constructors, and other contractor supervisors received the award given by NIPSCO’s Generation Cooperative Contractor Safety Committee (CCSC) at a luncheon held on Dec. 14, 2018. The award, new to the utility provider’s contractor supervisors, is given to those who exemplify excellence in job site safety.

Currently assigned to the Coal Combustion Residuals (CCR) project under way at the R.M. Schahfer Generating Station in Wheatfield, Indiana, Joe began his career with Graycor in October 2010 and has worked on a number of notable Indiana projects including construction of a hydrogen plant construction at Praxair in Whiting and installation of a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system on Unit 1 at AEP’s power plant in Rockport.

“We’re proud of Joe for showing that he goes above and beyond when it comes to safety not only for himself, but also by involving his craftworkers’ commitment to safety,” says Randy Hynek, director of safety at Graycor.

Graycor is a member of the CCSC and in 2017 received NIPSCO’s Zero Injury Award for performing recordable-free work on NIPSCO’s sites at the Michigan City and Schahfer generating stations.
