CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA, November 9, 2023 – Graycor recently received four awards at the 22nd Annual Excellence in Construction (EIC) Awards organized by the Associated Builders and Contractors of the Carolinas (ABCC.)

The EIC Awards not only celebrate the quality of construction projects, but also recognize the innovation, safety, diversity, and merit demonstrated by the contractors involved. Graycor’s projects excelled in complexity, attractiveness, overcoming unique challenges, completion time, workmanship, innovation, safety, and cost. These accolades are a testament to the high standards and dedication of the project teams.

FUJIFILM Diosynth Biotechnologies Holly Springs, Holly Springs, NC: Eagle Award + Specialty Contractor Project of the Year Finalist (Structural & Misc. Metals Over $15M.) FUJIFILM Diosynth Biotechnologies’ new facility in Holly Springs, NC will be the largest cell culture contract development and manufacturing (CDCM) facility in North America.  Steel erection was completed for six three-story buildings totaling 846,802 SF. All steel and metal decks included design-assist, fabrication, and supply and field erection. The scope also included the erection of 10,000 tons of steel that was sourced, galvanized, produced, and fabricated in North Carolina.

FUJIFILM Diosynth Biotechnologies Holly Springs, Holly Springs, NC: Eagle Award (Concrete Over $15M.) Graycor managed and performed placement of 8,000 cubic yards of concrete; including pits, piers, footers, slab-on-grade, and slab-on-metal deck, and elevated slabs. The pit excavation was approximately 75 feet deep.

Amazon SAV4, Pooler, GA: Merit Award (Commercial Over $50M.) Graycor was selected as the general contractor of Amazon’s SAV4 fulfillment center near Savannah, GA. Construction included a 2.9M SF five-story facility featuring Amazon’s innovative robotics technology, two guard shacks, two pump houses, EV charging stations, and over 200,000 SF of offices, bathrooms, breakrooms and other support space. Graycor was also responsible for extensive site work, infrastructure, and utilities coordination.

Holcim Downcomer Phase III Replacement, Holly Hill, SC: Merit Award (Industrial Under $2M.) Due to corrosion, 130 feet of downcomer vertical duct sections at the Holcim cement plant in Holly Hill, SC required replacement and upgrades to new specialty-coated ducts to prevent further deterioration. Graycor safety self-performed the demolition of the existing downcomer section, replacement of new sections of the duct, coatings, painting, and installation of fabric sections of the downcomer.
