Project Scope

Food giant Oscar Mayer, a company that dates back to the 1880s in Chicago, selected Graycor to perform building and mechanical renovations, demolition and new construction and life safety updates for its original 700,000-square-foot plant located on Chicago’s Near North Side.

The crew performed demolition virtually by hand due to the proximity of the plant’s operating elements, which included working around ammonia and steam lines. Scope of work included renovation and construction on three separate floors. Upon completion of each phase of demolition, new structural steel, concrete floor slabs and roofing took place. Work areas included store rooms, offices and a machine shop.
