Graycor served as general contractor for Wonderverse, a first-of-its-kind, 45,000-square-foot immersive entertainment destination at Oakbrook Center, one of the nation’s most visited shopping malls. Developed with Sony Pictures Entertainment, Wonderverse merges physical interactivity and advanced media to bring iconic film worlds—Ghostbusters, Jumanji, Uncharted, and Zombieland—to life. The venue includes escape rooms, VR experiences, bumper cars, arcade games, and themed dining, redefining the entertainment retail experience.

Graycor used Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) and Building Information Modeling BIM to coordinate complex HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems, minimizing delays and maximizing efficiency. Sustainability was a priority: major infrastructure—including walls, storefronts, elevators, stairwells, HVAC units, and fire protection systems—was reused, reducing environmental impact and costs.

Successful delivery hinged on tight coordination between the electrical contractor and Sony’s audio/lighting vendors. Open communication and real-time collaboration ensured seamless integration and timely delivery of this innovative, high-performance entertainment space.
