Project Scope
Graycor completed the conversion of AMC’s Marina 6 theatre in Marina del Rey, California to a Dine In Theatre. Located just four miles north of Los Angeles in the Villa Marina Marketplace shopping area, Graycor demolished the interior of the existing 35,000-square-foot theatre on the second level of an existing mall and completed an extensive renovation. The six auditoriums and all common areas were completely re-envisioned, replacing traditional screens, seats and concession stands with state of the art projection equipment, roomy motorized recliners and full service restaurant and bar capabilities. The completely revamped layout ensures servers can quietly and easily tend to the needs of guests and allows guests to enjoy restaurant food and cocktails from both the full service lounge in the lobby as well as from the luxury of roomy recliners in the auditoriums.
To complete the transformation, Graycor built out the required spaces, installed equipment and furnishings. Special considerations were needed when replacing and repairing MEP damaged from decades in the area subject to earthquakes. In addition, Villa Marina Marketplace, the multi-use area in which Marina 6 is located, was undergoing a major redevelopment while Graycor was renovating the theatre. Coordinating construction, material delivery and storage, and even work hours in the midst of the mixed use redevelopment project required communication and coordination with all companies working on projects in the development.
