Project Scope

Graycor was awarded a project to replace valves for the purpose of relocating pipeline valves from below-grade to above-grade. The project entailed Graycor’s team to perform the following work:

  • Excavate to identify piping for removal
  • Weld on Stopples
  • Demolish existing piping
  • Install new pipe spools and pipe support foundations
  • Backfill around the installed pipe

Self-perform work included earthwork, concrete, foundations, demolition and piping. Graycor’s fabrication facility in Portage, Indiana, was utilized for much of the project’s welding needs. Subcontracted work included hydro-excavation, asphalt, fencing and tree removal.

When faced with the challenge of the project scope undergoing significant change from what was originally planned, Graycor’s team quickly converted the project from lump sum to time and material, then back to lump sum to complete the project on time, within budget and safely with zero incidents or injuries.
