Project Scope

Graycor Construction provided preconstruction and general contractor services for a 110,000-square-foot expansion to Valley Fair Mall, a regional shopping center.

The scope of work included demolition of one freestanding building and one building that was attached to the mall. New construction included future tenant space on the lower level and a Kerasotes ShowPlace ICON Theatre on the upper level.

Renovations included new escalators, a skylight and glass handrail system in the Macy’s End Court. Scope of work also included new finishes at the Level 1 and Level 2 mall entrances.

The renovation provided Westfield with new leasable space in lieu of existing vacant structures. The design also provided additional parking, as well as updated entrances.

This expansion project was unique in that it was under the jurisdiction of two cities, the City of Santa Clara and San Jose, which required a high level of communication and coordination to ensure proper documentation was provided to both entities and inspections were scheduled appropriately.
