Graycor served as the design-build contractor for an 82,288-square-foot airplane hangar with four bays at the Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport. The building is constructed of pre-engineered metal with ribbed metal panel cladding, stone veneer and copper metal panels. The hangar has a foam fire suppression system, 34’ clear height ceilings and doors are 90-degree-turn, 120-foot-wide and 28-foot-tall clearance. Graycor also constructed a total of 2,500 square feet of adjacent office space.
Since Skybridge Lot 107 is located on an active airport property, Graycor coordinated construction work so the daily operations of the airport could continue smoothly. Due to the hanger being runway-facing or runway-adjacent, development of 107 also required above-and-beyond coordination with national and international entities such as U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the Federal Aviation Administration and Mexico’s Administracion General de Aduana.
The Skybridge Lot 107 project received AZRE’s Red Award for Best Industrial Project Under 200,000 square feet.
